We work with HVAC, Plumbing, Roofing, and Garage Door contractors.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, results-focused, self-starter eager to join our team as a Content Marketing Specialist.

Candidates must demonstrate insatiable curiosity, appetite to learn & grow, and obsess over details.

We believe in healthy obsessions to improve and master skills.

This is a remote position.

We are only seeking candidates who live in Eastern or Central Time Zones. Our workday is aligned with normal business hours in the Eastern Time Zone for easy collaboration and timely communication.

We currently have team members in Detroit, Chicago and Cincinnati. 

About This Role

The Content Marketing Specialist at Lokal works alongside our SEO & Web Design Teams.

The primary responsibility is to increase organic traffic and improve clients’ ranking for local queries in SERPS–local pack, maps, and organic.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge on Helpful Content, SEO, and is well-versed in content marketing strategies and execution. 

The Lokal team member is expected to strategize, collaborate with team members, be independent, and maintain relationships with all clients and internal teams. 

We’re looking for a highly skillful, creative and inquisitive individual who loves the idea of exploring what moves the needle clients with content, content ux / layouts, content styles, content formats, and pushing the envelope to test and learn new tactics to solve ranking higher organically.

You’re a master of all things Google with extraordinary critical thinking skills and creative thinking.

The new team member has a deep understanding of what Search Intent is and how Search Intent works.

Home service buyers search differently and think differently as they are very purchase driven. 

Your role will also consider how Organic Search plays with the rest of the client’s marketing mix.

The candidate will play a lead role in SEO efforts and work to design new processes and strategies for Local SEO within Lokal.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyze trends and collect research by collecting both quantitative and qualitative information to create high-quality content strategies for Lokal’s clients.
  • Analyzing and optimizing content and SEO to continue to drive results. 
  • Work with the design team to generate ideas (and assets) requisite for content publication.
  • Recommend changes to website architecture, content, links, and other features to improve SEO positions for target keywords.
  • Own client content strategies and client’s content calendar.
  • Lead the research efforts to generate strategic content ideas and make recommendations for your clients, including:
    • Keyword research, audience research, competitor research, backlink research, social media research, and AI prompt engineering
    • Ultimately looking for gold mines and nuggets of data that informs and signals a strategic roadmap for your clients.
  • Create content (blog posts, landing page copy) with specific goals to drive qualified traffic and/or generate leads.
  • Analyze and optimize meta-descriptions, titles, landing pages for search terms and semantic search phrases that will drive qualified traffic and engagement.
  • You’ll manage and run Content and SEO audits:
    • For the Web Team for website launches.
    • For the Sales Team for marketing assessments.
  • You’ll be reporting weekly on client’s KPIs, making adjustments to optimize campaigns and guiding clients to dominate their service areas to generate more opportunities.
  • Proactively identify content gaps with thorough research and make ongoing topic recommendations that open clients up to new opportunities to achieve their SEO and content marketing goals.
  • Report on organic search results and recommend improvements/new tactics.
  • Write client campaign summaries, including high-level tasks completed, next steps, and updating goals & scorecards (conversion rates, ROI, earned links, SERP metrics, and more!)
  • You’ll support new business opportunities for Lokal through running marketing audits including: competitor research, SEO audits, and service area research. 
  • You’ll suggest and lead internal process developments / improvements as needed.

What you’ll do:

  • Collecting both quantitative and qualitative information to create high-quality content for Lokal’s clients.
  • Creating content with specific goals to drive traffic and/or nurture leads.
  • Reporting on organic search results, recommending improvements, and applying new tactics.
  • Developing ideas for content assets for clients across multiple Home Service industries: HVAC, Plumbing, Roofing, and Garage Doors.
  • Conducting research to make great content.
  • Making and applying strategic recommendations.
  • Participating in outreach and link building for our clients.
  • Collecting information and turning it into stories that our target audience cares about.
  • And more!

What skills you’ll need to do the job:

  • Writing skills to create engaging, entertaining and educational content that will be published across a diverse range of verticals.
  • Copywriting, blogging, and Landing page writing experience.
  • Tech savvy and interest in the internet, SEO, digital marketing, media and growth hacking.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO tools like Moz, Ahrefs and SEMrush.
  • Experience prompting and building a narrative with AI.
  • An eye for elegant, well-written, easy to read content on the web.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 3-4 years of industry-specific/agency in a Content Marketing and / or SEO role.
  • Previous client-facing experience (bonus)
  • Extensive knowledge of digital marketing and digital strategies (Content Marketing, SEO, CRO)
  • Understanding of user funnels and user intent.
  • Proficiency with Analytics packages and Google Search Console.
  • Familiar with industry-standard SEO software.
  • Strategic with a strong analytical mindset and skills, excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated marketer who thrives in a remote work environment.
  • Diplomatic and clear communicator.
  • Results-focused, detail-oriented, collaborative approach.
  • Flexible, dynamic, and able to adapt quickly to changes

Salary Range

$60-$75k
